February 8th, 2016 I woke up and something in me had shifted. I knew that without a doubt, I needed to stop drinking. I made the decision and for the next couple of weeks, I bounced all over the internet and went to a meditation retreat trying to figure out how to navigate being sober in a drinking society.
What I found is that I didn’t identify or align with services on the addiction/treatment side of the spectrum, but I also knew that I had not been living a healthy, non-attached relationship with alcohol.
Over the past couple of years, I’ve discovered that I’m not alone in this. There are many of us living in the “gray area” on the spectrum of relationship with alcohol.
In the summer of 2018, I set out to raise funds to get the Sobriety + Soul Project off the ground. The goal of the project is to explore stories of how choosing sobriety has created so much more than drinking has for people around the world. The podcast is in the works and a book to follow. Thank you to those who contributed. The work has only just begun.
