What are Your Core Desired Feelings?

This summer, every morning for about a month – I would get up long before the sun (and my kid) to work through Danielle LaPorte’s Desire Map workbook. With a hot coffee mug in hand, I would read and reflect and write and erase and write again. I would put the book down as if I was done for the day, and then spend the rest of the day really thinking through whether or not the Core Desired Feelings (CDF’s) that I had chosen reflect all corners of my inner self.

I worked through about 12 Core Desired Feelings before I settled on my list of 5.

It was hard, but beautiful work. It has changed the way I see my work in the world, and as a mother and partner.

It has shifted my priorities to a much more manageable system that feeeeels soooooo gooood.

As we head toward the holiday season and the potential and opportunity of 2018, I invite you to consider getting to know your Core Desired Feelings.

Because, I know you want what you want.

Aspiring. Hoping. Reaching. So you make a plan to get it. The bucket list. To-do lists. Objectives. Goals.


What I want you to realize is that you’re not chasing the goal, you’re chasing a feeling you hope the goal will give you.

So what if you first get clear on how you actually want to feel in your life, and then set your intentions? Game-changer.

You deserve to create your life with pure and powerful intention. What goes into your cupboards and closets, what goes into your body, the people you spend time with, the gifts you give, how you worship, the thoughts you focus on.

Clutter is a choice. Anger is a choice. Resentment is a choice.

But so are spaciousness, flexibility, laughter, compassion, tenderness, and resilience.

Empowered choices are the choices that take your body, mind, and spirit into consideration. My wish for you is that making these empowered choices comes easily to you.
